Krasnoyarsk: Commander Sedov packs his bags

Kommander Sedov, einer der zwei männlichen Eisbären im Zoo von Krasnojarsk, soll den Zoo verlassen und in den Zoo Stary Oskol umziehen. Stary Oskol ist eine Stadt im Oblast Belograd ungefähr 500 Kilometer südlich von Moskau. Kommander Sedov, nach dem legendären Kommandanten benannt, wurde am 20. November 2002 in St. Petersburg von Uslada geboren und lebt sei 2004 in Krasnojarsk. In Stary Oskol erwartet ihn eine zwanzigjährige Eisbärin, die wahrscheinlich aus dem Russischen Staatszirkus stammt und zu der Eisbärengruppe der Dompteurin Yulia Denisenko gehörte. Sie lebt seit April 2013 in Stary Oskol. Der Aufenthalt von Sedov in seinem neuen Zoo soll etwa drei Jahre dauern.
Commander Sedov, one of two male polar bears at the Krasnoyarsk Zoo, is leaving the zoo for the Stary Oskol Zoo. Stary Oskol is a city in the Belograd oblast, about five hundred miles south of Moscow. Commander Sedov, named after the legendary commandant, was born to Uslada in St. Petersburg in November 2002. There awaits him a 20-year-old female, who probably came out of the Russian State Circus and who belonged to the polar bear act of Yulia Denisenko. Since April 2013, she’s been living in Stary Oskol. Sedov will probably be there for something like three years.

Man hat sich zu diesem Schritt entschlossen, weil Sedov stark unter seiner „unerfüllten Liebe“ zu Viktoria (Aurora) leidet und sein Verhalten beginnt Anlass zur Sorge zu geben. Zudem hat man die Hoffnung, dass die Zirkusbärin noch Jungtiere bekommen kann.

Die Fotos stammen von der Ankunft der Eisbärin im Zoo Anfang April 2013 noch im Transportkäfig. Für sie hatte man im Zoo ein Gehege mit Wasserbecken und einer Klimaanlage vorbereitet.
The photos origin from the arrival of the female polar bear in the zoo in early April. They show her in the transport cage. The zoo has built a new enclosure with a pool and an air condition for her.

Well, Lapa is lovely and will no doubt prove a distraction, but I don’t really like the look of those exhibits. Will they have a pool? Grassy area? Space?
