Mit einem großen Fest wurde im Maruyama Zoo die am 25. Dezember 2010 geborene Tochter von Lara und Denali getauft. Die kleine Eisbärin soll Ira (アイラ) heißen.
Amid lots of partying at the Maruyama Zoo the daughter of Lara and Denali was given a name. She had been born December 25, 2010. The little female will be called „Ira“.

Zunächst hatte man dazu aufgefordert Namensvorschläge zu machen, aus diesen wurden drei Namen ausgewählt und mit einer öffentliche Abstimmung entschieden, wie der Eisbärennachwuchs heißen sollte. Die drei vorgeschlagenen Namen waren: „Kirara“, „Nicole“ und „Ira“. Der Name „Ira“ erhielt 1294 von insgesamt 2673 abgegebenen Stimmen. Er bedeutet, dass die junge Eisbärin unter dem „liebevollen Auge“ (I) ihrer Mutter „Lara“ (-ra) aufwächst.
At first suggestions for her name were requested, and from these three possible names were chosen to be put to popular ballot. The three possible names were „Kirara“, „Nicole“, and „Ira“. The name „Ira“ garnered 1294 votes. It means that the little bear will flourish under the „loving eye“ (I) of her mother „Lara“ (-ra).
Für die beiden Eisbärinnen gab es als Taufgeschenk leckeren Lachs und ein saftiges Rindersteak.
As a gift for the two females, there were delicious salmon and a tasty beefsteak.

I regret to inform you that you should replace one of these three photos of Aïra(Ira)
on your page of “Geburten – Wildfänge – Todesfälle 2010”, because the left and the middle one
is certainly the picture of Aïra (Ira), but the right one is of Lara.
Lara has the slight brown line of color on the head between her eyes, which her daughter Aïra (Ira)
does not have.
