Die Gerüchte, dass Milak nach China gehen soll, haben sich nicht bestätigt. Die Gerüchte traten nach dem Tod von Augo auf Grund einer Aussage eines Tierpflegers auf. Tatsächlich hatte der Zoo in Aalborg eine Anfrage von einem chinesischen Zoo, der eine neue Eisbärenanlage bauen wollte.
The rumors that Milak would be going to China remain unconfirmed. It all began with Augo’s death and a comment made by a zookeeper. In fact, the zoo in Aalborg did have an inquiry from a Chinese zoo that wanted to build a new polar bear exhibit.
Die „Kapuskasing News“ teilt heute mit, dass Milak im Juli in das Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat umziehen wird. Damit hätte Milak sicherlich ein gutes Zuhause gefunden.
The Kapuskasing News reports that Milak will be moved to the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat in July. That tells us that Milak has certainly found a good home.
„In Eisbärfamilien ist es notwendig das Jungtier umziehen zu lassen, wenn das Jungtier ein bestimmtes Alter erreicht hat. Damit wird der Stress für die Mutter reduziert, wenn sie sich wieder fortpflanzen will. Hätte wir Milak keine neue Heimat geboten, so hätte er auf eine Anlage in China gemusst,“ sagte Polar Bear Habitat Manager Karen Cummings.
“In polar bear families, once a cub reaches a certain age, it’s necessary to move them to reduce stress for the mother who is likely ready to breed again. It’s sort of like parents telling their son or daughter to move out and get a job. If we didn’t offer a home for Milak, he might have had to go to a facility in China,” said Polar Bear Habitat Manager, Karen Cummings.
Obwohl Einzelheiten des Transports noch nicht feststehen, haben Cochrane und Aalborg schon eine Besitzübertragung von Milak an das Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat unterschrieben. Der Import des dänischen Bären wurde von der Canadian Food Inspection Agency schon genehmigt.
Details of his trip are still not worked out although Cochrane and Aalborg have already transferred the bear’s ownership to the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat. The import of the Danish bear has already been approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
„Der einzige Grund einen Umzug noch zu verhindern, wäre ein negativer Bluttest, die die Genehmigung außer Kraft setzen würde – aber das ist nicht wahrscheinlich“, sagte Cummings.
“The only thing that could hamper the agreement at this point is getting a negative blood test result on the bear that would nullify the permits – but that isn’t likely,” said Cummings.
Die Regelungen für den Transport von Eisbären sind sehr detailliert. Die Länge der Reise, die Temperatur während des Transports, Belüftung, Stress für das Tier und Vorschriften und Formalitäten sind zu berücksichtigen.
Standards for the transportation of a polar bear are complex. The length of the trip, the temperature during transport, ventilation, and stress for the animal, as well as regulations and formalities must be taken into account.
„Wir wollen einfach nur sicherzustellen, dass die Reise ist so einfach wie möglich für Milak ist.“
“We just want to ensure the trip is as easy on Milak as possible.”

Eisbären im Zoo - Polar Bears in Zoos 
Wenn man bedenkt, dass ich seit ca. 2 Jahren darauf warte, Kanadierin zu werden!! Vielleicht haette ich mich statt an Immigration Canada an die Canadian Food Agency wenden sollen! 🙂
Es freut mich, dass Milak nach Kanada kommt und ich hoffe, dass er mit Ganuk vergesellschaftet werden kann – beide sind ja noch „Eisbaeren-Teenager“!

Dear Ulli,
Although I got information, a few months ago, from my friend in Xi’an, China,
that Qujiang Polar Ocean World in Xi’an is looking for a young male bear in Europe,
that can be a partner of Eska and Sesi, I think it’s only a bad joke
that Milak would actually move to China.
By the way, before leaving Denmark, I think Aalborg Zoo should recheck
whether Milak is really a male bear, because if Milak is not confirmed as a male,
the situation would totally change, and Milak would stay in Europe.
Anyway, I wish Milak is getting along well with Ganuk and he has a brightest future in Canada.

Ich finde, das ist für Milak natürlich die bessere Lösung und freue mich über die News. In Kanada wird er sicher ein gutes Leben haben. Damit ist Aalborg ja wieder ohne männlichen Bären. Ich habe eben überlegt, ob man wohl Felix wieder holen würde, falls in Nürnberg wieder Nachwuchs kommen sollte….

Ooops, das ist ja eine große Neuigkeit. Vielen Milakfreunden und auch den Zoopfleger/inne/n wird der Abschied bestimmt ganz schwer fallen, so kurz nach dem Tod von Augo…(( Die Chinagerüchte kannte ich nicht und so bin ich nur froh, dass er nach Cochrane kommt. Ich glaube, dass er es dort wirklich gut haben wird….Haltet uns bitte weiter auf dem Laufenden!
